This collection is primarily comprised of recordings of musical performances by various groups associated with the Carnegie Mellon University School of Music. The collection also contains recordings from GSIA and the Benjamin F. Fairless Lecture Series, as well as a number of lectures by architects.

The collection contains Carnegie's personal papers, many of which pertain to the founding of Carnegie Technical Schools. It also includes materials collected about Carnegie.
